Oak Park Village Hall
Village of Oak Park | Oak Park, IL, 2011Oak Park Village Hall stands in this beautiful Chicago suburb, known throughout the world as the epicenter for the work of legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Renowned minimalist architect Harry Weese, whose other work includes iconic stations for the Washington Metro system, designed the Village Hall, which was completed in 1974.
Lightswitch was retained by the Village to review lighting for the Police Station (in the lower level of the building) after Oak Parks Sustainability Manager heard Lightswitch partner Avraham Mor’s presentation at a speaking engagement. Oak Park had been seeking a pragmatic, vigilant design partner to help them achieve an efficient lighting solution whist also staying true to the original design intent of the building (now a listed historical landmark) and with Lightswitch their search was over.
The first phase, the lower level police station, is complete with significant energy savings achieved. Work continues on the remainder of the facility.
