Fairfield Chicago Hotel

What It Was

The Fairfield Hotel was getting an updated look, by the architecture firm Koo and Associates. Lightswitch was hired to help convert the lobby from an overly bright, uninviting space, into a more welcoming and sophisticated modern entrance.

What We Did

A dimming system was installed with settings for “morning,” “dusk,” “evening,” and “clean-up”. Modern fixtures were installed to update the look. On the wall by the reception desk, an LED fixture installation with waves of changing color replaced an outdated row of roses in vases.

Why It Worked

The dimmer control allows the lighting to be set by the designer to suit each scene, and then only requires staff to press a button for consistent, appealing, and inviting light throughout the day. The dimmer softens the light for dramatic effect at different times of the day. The completed lobby is more inviting, more fun, and more beautiful.
